CHASE HACKETT, GUMM MMA -VS-
TOM SARAH, T’S KO - Men's Amateur Lightweight Title
Chase Hackett is a local up and
coming lightweight fighter our of Gumm MMA. Chase has an untarnished
record of 5-0. Chase is known for being a well rounded fighter and great
conditioning. Chase has fought some tough, game opponents and Tom Sarah
is just that…… Tom mad a name for himself in the local MMA community a
couple of years ago, beating fighters who have gone on to make big shows and be
top ranked lightweights in Colorado.
Namely, Noah Thomas (current TKO Bantam weight champion) Luke Cadillo, UFC and
Strikeforce veteran and Rocky Johnson. Look for this fight to go the
distance if one can’t finish the other early in the fight. WHAT A MAIN
EVENT!
JOEY BANKS, T’S KO -VS- NICK
MACIAS, GUMM MMA - Men's Featherweight Title
Joey Banks is not new to the
Colorado MMA scene, he has been in the sport since 2006. Joey is well
know for being an aggressive (I’ll fight anyone in my weigh class) type of
fighter. He has been training out of T’s KO for the past year and a half
with the likes of, Duane “Bang” Ludwig and Christian “Relentless” Allen.
T’s KO is know for putting out top notch fighters, and Joey Banks is a perfect
example of that. Joey is fresh of a win that garnered him a Featherweight
title back in August. Nick Macias is out of Gumm MMA as well, he is
another complete fighter. Nick is also one those I don’t care I
fight type of guys, always just looking to fight the toughest guys in his
weight class to improve his game. Nick will bring outstanding stamina
into his fights, he is know for being more of a ground fighter, but has stood
toe to toe with likes of Josh (the knock out artist) Hubber and went the
distance. This will be a great fight to end 2008.
TROY BREES, SUBMIT YOU
JIU-JITSU -VS- BART PALMER, AUSTIN'S
INT. BB ACADEMY
Troy Brees is making is MMA
debut on December 5th against Bart Palmer who is also making his MMA
Debut. Troy
has had some boxing experience in the past and has been training with Mario
Horta and Submit You Jiu-Jitsu for some time now. I spoke with Troy and he told me he
has working with his strength and conditioning coach to get ready for this
fight. I also had the opportunity to speak with Bart who has had quite a
bit of wrestling experience and gas tank should be no problem here. I’m
always excited to see what a debut fighter will do, I have seen debut fights go
both ways, over a minute into the first round and or, a 3 round war of
attrition. These are two big guys at 205 so I can almost guarantee a some
heavy striking coming into play…
Brian Scott, WKC -VS- Dan Craft,
Next Level Sports
This is a make or break fight
or so it seems. Both of these fighters made there debut in MMA only a
couple of months ago and both fights went the distance or at least well into
the 3rd round. Dan Craft is primarily a wrestler who is making
the transition in MMA. One thing to be said about that is, wrestling is a
very similar sport to MMA as far as the activity level and mental toughness one
must have to compete in MMA. Dan Craft had a fantastic debut against
Travis Hollis on August 23rd, he showed he was not afraid to stand
and strike with a more seasoned fighter. He also proved is prowess on the
ground, Dan scored several takedowns and defended submission attempts against a
very tough Travis Hollis. Late in the 3rd round Dan was forced
to tap due to a RNC that Hollis had been attempting for most of the
round. Brian Scott is a very similar build to local and UFC
lightweight Corey Hill. Brian is a very tall lightweight at 6’4” and
really doesn’t walk around to heavy not having to cut much weight. Brian
comes from a very traditional martial arts back ground being in Karate the
majority of his life. Looking back at his debut fight, he has a great
guard with such long legs, so should the wrestler take down the striker, he
should be comfortable.
TRAVIS HOLLIS, GUMM MMA -VS-
MATT VIGIL, ADVANTAGE MARTIAL ARTS MMA
Travis Hollis is one of those
guys that you have to finish or he will keep coming after you…. No matter
how hard you hit him, or how hard you crank on a limb, you had better finish
him off. Travis was a stand out wrestler all through high school as is
relatively new to the local MMA scene. He has had 4 fights starting in
July of this year and is now 4-0. Travis will look to be aggressive in this
fight and will need to be to finish off Matt Vigil. Matt was also a stand
out wrestler all through high school and has shown that even though he is very
technical as a MMA fighter, good old GNP will do the trick just fine.
This should prove to be the toughest fight either competitor has ever had and
one of them will come out of it with their hand raised.
