Grappler’s Edge is a USA Wrestling sanctioned club focused on Grappling
The doors of Grappler’s Edge on 5305 East Colfax
Avenue are open to wrestlers, judokas, and jiu-jitsu athletes. This has
turned out to be a recipe for success.
Grappler’s Edge has proven to be one of top Grappling teams in the
country in USA Wrestling’s Grappling World Team Trials the last two
years. The man responsible for the success of the club is owner and
coach, Sheldon Marr.
Marr is a former champion in Judo and wrestling and has since
transitioned those skills into Grappling and Mixed Martial Arts, giving
him 44 years of experience. Coach Marr was inducted into the U.S.
Martial Arts’, World Martial Arts and International Black Belt Hall of
Fame and has been named “Instructor of the Year”...
Team Grappler's Edge will send 3 Athletes to the 2008 World Grappling Championships, and are ranked by USA Grappling as the #2 Grappling Team in the United States!
The 2008 U.S. World Grappling Team Trials were held at Sierra College in Rocklin, California on September 13, 2008. The top two winners in each weight class qualified to represent the U.S. in the 2008 World Grappling Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland on December 20-21, 2008.
When Smitty of
Poor Boys Boxing and Sven Bean of
Ring of Fire fame, put together a contest, they seemingly have the power to
stop trains and rains when both were ever-present during this match-up under
some threatening skies Saturday night.
This was a fun action-packed evening of mixed fight events
beginning with 3 women’s Muay Thai contests, 3 MMA
bouts and 4 boxing competitions including one for a title belt.
As the girl events got underway, a large freight train
pulled up and stopped on the tracks right outside Softball Country.He must have sat there for a half hour
watching the fights before loudly sounding the train whistle and chugging on
down the line.Now that was a different sort
of spectator!

Brett Roller
and Noah Thomas have blood
between them that originated when they both wrestled for Wasson
High School in Colorado Springs.Brett was one year younger than Noah but even
then, he didn’t cotton to being treated as a lesser athlete.Now, 7 years later, they will meet in the
cage but the stakes are even greater now.
